Pictou recently discovered one unintended result from their municipal firearms bylaw which prohibits the discharge of guns in town limits. It is unintentionally preventing a mounted cowboy action shooting demo and competition at the exhibition. They intend to amend the bylaw, but it takes 3 months to go through the administrative process, too late for this year's event.

Not sure if they are planning a similar show for the exhibition in Bible Hill this summer or not? They wouldn't fall under the Truro bylaw regardless. Not sure if the Village or County has a bylaw that would prevent a shooting sport from being held? It says in the news that these sports didn't exist at the time the bylaw was created, and such events were not the object of the bylaw.

They've already performed at the bible hill ex before. Last year for sure and maybe the year before even.

I think it's just plain dumb that the bylaw applies to their sport. They are literally firing nothing more than powder. Basically a cap gun.

When I watched them at the bible hill ex they got some folks from the crowd to come try the guns out. Set a couple balloons in front of them to shoot at. They were facing directly at the crowd shooti straight ahead face high. The only thing in any danger is the balloon.

There are a lot of old By-Laws on the books in the Province that should be admended, but they don't have the resources to take the time to go threw and have them discarded, just keep adding more. At a By-Law enforcement training session Old Harry Howe gave a presentation of some of the old by-laws still on the books. You be amazed of the number and how out dated ! A person could still be put in a stockades if some were enforce ! Aw maybe they should enforce the lash on some today ! Lol
